You must re-register
to vote if
- You have moved (even a short
distance), or
- You want to change your party
affiliation, or
- You have changed your name,
or
- You encountered a problem
with your registration records at the last election.
Where do you vote?
- In person at the
polling place in your election district. The precinct is
noted on your registration card. If you do not know your
polling place or district, call the County Board of
Elections at 610-559-3055 in Northampton County or
610-782-3194 in Lehigh County. Locations of polling
places are printed in the Express-Times and Morning Call
newspapers shortly before election day. If you need
instructions on how to use the voting machines, an
election officer will help you, or see below. People voting for the first time in a
polling place must show a form of identification in order to be permitted to
vote. This is a new regulation that affects first-time voters, and those who
have moved.
- By absentee ballot if you
will be absent from the municipality where you reside because of occupation,
business, or duties; or if you are unable to go to the polls because of illness
or disability. Absentee ballot request forms are available at your County Voter
Registration Office, at municipal and legislators’ offices, from the League of
Women Voters, and
online. A first-time voter must send a photocopy of his/her
driver's license along with the application for an absentee ballot.
